Justin Mundy

Justin has forty years’ experience in international development, finance and Track II diplomacy, with a particular focus on climate change, environment and energy issues. Over his career he has worked at senior levels within the public, multilateral and private sectors and has a proven track record of creating solutions to resolve complex problems, in quiet multi-track diplomacy and in designing innovative financial instruments to address systemic environmental and developmental issues. He is dedicated to finding ways to build resilience in fragile communities and vulnerable countries.

Justin currently holds various posts that reflects these interests, including being the Chairman of the Earthna Centre of the Qatar Foundation and the Chairman and co-founder of SLM Partners, an asset management company specialising in regenerative agriculture and forestry. He has broad experience in sovereign debt issues and is the Chairman of the Sustainable Sovereign Debt Hub. Within the NGO sector, he is the Chairman of TRAFFIC International and a Trustee of Global Canopy, having recently also been a Trustee of WWF UK and a Distinguished Fellow at the World Resources Institute.

From 2007-2018, he was the Director of the then HRH The Prince of Wales’s International Sustainability Unit, which specialised in building consensus on the solutions for complex problems, including aspects of climate change and security. And from 2018-2024, he was the Commonwealth Secretary General’s Special Envoy.

Prior to his role at the ISU, he worked as an Adviser to the UK Government and the European Commission and had also held positions at Deutsche Bank and Aon, having previously managed the World Bank’s forestry and biodiversity programmes in Russia and Central Asia.
