Nyakuma Peter is a Founder & Director of Together South Sudan (TSS): She leads this organization dedicated to fostering inter-communal reconciliation and trauma healing among different South Sudanese communities. Global Representative & Advocate: She spoke at the 2023 Global Refugee Forum in Geneva, addressing themes of peacebuilding, refugee inclusion, and the harms of internal displacement. Her statements notably emphasized that displacement is often the outcome of political violence and the crucial need for peaceful conflict resolution. At one panel, she delivered a peace-building pledge under co-convenors including Colombia, Egypt, Norway, and the UN Department of Political & Peace-building Affairs. Former Protection Officer: She previously worked as a Protection Officer in Bentiu, South Sudan, serving with the Nonviolence peace force and Oxfam. In that role, she focused on gender-based violence prevention, safeguarding vulnerable groups, and supporting survivors through psychosocial empowerment and income-generation in and out of the displacement settings. IVLP Alumna: In recognition of her leadership, she was nominated to participate in the U.S. International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
