Cheikh Tidiane DIEYE, originally from Ziguinchor, holds a Master’s degree in Development Sociology from Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis and a PhD in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland.
His career began at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) in Geneva, before joining Enda Tiers-Monde in Dakar in 2002, where he coordinated programs on trade and international trade negotiations. In 2012, he founded the African Centre for Trade, Integration and Development (CACID), establishing himself as a recognized expert in trade and integration policies in Africa.
Committed to promoting good governance and the rule of law in Africa, DIEYE has been actively involved in various civic and political initiatives. He served on the Board of Directors of Forum Civil, co-launched citizen platforms enabling independent candidates to participate in elections, and played a key role in movements advocating for transparency in the management of natural resources. His contributions to public debate include works on corruption and Africa-Europe relations. DIEYE is running as a candidate in the presidential election of 25 February 2024, marking a major milestone in his civic and political journey.
