Born in Havana, where he studied music before joining the Conservatoire de Paris, Lester CHIO ALONSO is currently a clarinet teacher in Paris and in Saint-Cloud.
A member of the National Union of Artists and Writers of Cuba, he has initiated various cultural and educational projects linking France and Latin America. In recognition of this work, he was awarded the French Senate Medal.
Lester is also a concert performer; he plays on a Buffet Crampon clarinet, for which he is an artist-ambassador.
Since 2022, he has been supporting LA BANDA DE MÚSICA, contributing his teaching experience to this remarkable association by giving music lessons in a marginalized neighborhood of the city of Oaxaca*, Mexico. He also takes part in the association’s initiatives in support of nine music schools in Cuba.
Through his community involvement, Lester helps restore hope and dignity to the most vulnerable children.
* Oaxaca is pronounced “OARRACA.”
