Mariyum Areeb Amjad is a young peacebuilder from Pakistan, currently serving as a Program Officer at HIVE Pakistan, where she supports programming as well as monitoring, evaluation and learning for community-led peacebuilding initiatives. Her work focuses on community-led peacebuilding, decolonial monitoring and evaluation (DMEL) and the meaningful engagement of marginalized communities in peace processes ensuring they are not only included, but also leading. She also works with Youth Transforming Narratives as an Advocacy Officer, advancing decolonial approaches to peace and development. In her practice, Mariyum frequently applies the Everyday Peace Indicators (EPI) methodology to co-design projects with communities, using lived experiences as the foundation for participatory and decolonial peacebuilding.
Mariyum is among the founding young leaders shaping the Global Unites Youth Movement in Pakistan, a non-violent initiative that seeks to connect, and equip a new generation of peacebuilders to transform societies through movements rooted in hope, non-violence and reconciliation.
She is a Commonwealth Scholar, currently pursuing a Master’s in Human Rights at the University of London. Mariyum also serves as a Youth Advisor to the EU Community of Practice on Mediation and has been selected for the Young South Asian Leaders Initiative (YSALI).
