Mathilde Boddaert is the technical lead for the Global Health and Peace Initiative (GHPI) at the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Headquarters, that she joined in 2025. The aim of that Initiative is to strengthen the role of WHO and the health sector as contributors to peace outcomes, while pursuing WHO’s goals of achieving Universal Health Coverage, better protection from emergencies and improved health and well-being.
Ms Boddaert originally comes from the peacebuilding sector and previously spent 9 years working in conflict and post-conflict countries, working on land conflict management; the prevention of violent extremism and electoral violence; the reintegration of gang members; transitional justice, etc.
She has held leadership, management, training and research positions for various UN and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) over the past 17 years, including International Crisis Group (ICG), Interpeace, Impunity Watch and the World Food Program (WFP). She has also worked and authored on various development, human rights, gender and humanitarian issues, always with a view to consolidating peace.
