Olivier Mukarji, based in Copenhagen, is an accomplished development and climate finance practitioner with over 20 years’ experience identifying climate smart solutions with high ROI for low-, middle- and high-income countries engaged with tackling challenges at the intersection of development, humanitarian, and security sectors. He has served as an advisor in several mediation and peace processes across the Arab and African regions. As CEO for his consultancy firm, OAM Consult, he provides advisory support to governments, International Development Finance Institutions, philanthropies and the private sector to advance sustainable returns on investment. His focus is on identifying holistic development pathways that leverage the comparative advantages of public and private partners by blending knowledge, innovation and financing tailored to specific client business cases. This helps ensure that fewer people and ecosystems are left behind. He does this through a unique approach to sustainability that is underpinned by four interdependent outcomes: economic development that safeguards land, water, and biodiversity. He has co-authored a recently published white paper outlining a strategic response to the environmental, social, and economic "poly-crisis" affecting the Near
East and North Africa (NENA) region that will inform forthcoming regional business cases and investment portfolios in the MENA and Sahel regions by the UN, MDBs and the League of Arab States, and the private sector. As a consultant with the World Bank’s Social Development Global Practice, Africa Social
Development Operations unit, he is supporting partners in designing operational guidance to strengthen inclusive early warning data ecosystems underpinned by Symbiotic Intelligence modalities- blending AI and human intelligence – that optimize and build trust around data collection and analysis that inform conflict prevention actions.
