This workshop is for practitioners seeking peace responsive, cross-sectoral, and creative approaches to creating sustainable peace. This facilitation is rooted in the Creation, Inspiration, Action Framework, created by Kiara Jacoby, to be published by New Lines Institute. The framework aims to facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration creating policy to practice linkages through arts and culture in peacebuilding. The facilitators will provide a hands-on learning experience to support peacebuilders bridging the gap between artists, civil society and state level actors to successfully integrate arts and culture initiatives into peace work at all levels. Participants will take part in a plenary role-play scenario putting the framework into action. The session will include multiple arts approaches including whole-group artistic movement exercises, small group creative collaboration, and individual ‘choose your own’ expression models.
The Creation, Inspiration, Action framework is a ‘checklist’ for policymakers, civil society, artists, and practitioners to use as a guide for integrating innovative artistic-minded approaches to building peace. The framework aims to contribute to effective cross-sectoral collaboration using creative models, to more effectively meet the Sustainable Development Goals. The framework's components are based on successful arts initiatives that have built peace globally, and are encouraged to be used across disciplines:
Participants will leave this workshop with new personal and organizational tools for creative collaboration across stakeholder groups.
