Come meet artist Álvaro Sebastián Quiroz Bolaños and explore his exhibition Echoes of Reality at Geneva Peace Week.
At just 26, the Mexican activist and artist has become widely recognized for linking art with human rights, social reintegration, and collective action. Turning personal adversity into hope, his work has impacted communities across Mexico, the U.S., and Colombia.
In 2024, he was honored at the United Nations in Geneva as one of the world’s five most representative young activists at the Young Activists Summit (YAS), the first Mexican to receive this recognition. He leads Brigada 12, rescuing and reintegrating people living on the streets, and founded IRIS art:, an initiative financing social projects through art.
His series Ecos de Realidad (Echoes of Reality) pays tribute to fallen defenders like Father Marcelo Pérez and Homero Gómez, using body bags as canvases to denounce violence and honor resilience.
Álvaro Quiroz continues to use art as a manifesto for justice, inclusion, and dignity
